Ireland (Eire): Irish Celtic

The Celtic tradition, with its intricate, interlocking designs, and Christianised Celtic culture are represented in these stamps from Eire (Ireland). The Celtic cross appeared on one of Ireland's first stamps, in 1922.

1922 Various themes
3d Celtic cross £0.05

1971 Decimal Currency, Celtic Designs
The 1971 set includes some very beautiful designs, such as the Celtic Dog Brooch and the Stag, both medium sized stamps with the same design available in several colours and denominations. The Winged Ox design was used for some higher denominations. The ox is a symbol of St Luke. The 10p, 15p and 20p Oxen are large stamps, as is the 50p Eagle, not shown here.

The Dog, Stag, Ox and Eagle designs were first issued in 1968, and were later reissued for decimal currency in 1971. I have a wide range of the dog brooches and stags from the 1971 set, most of which cost just £0.05, so you can assemble a pleasing colour range quite cheaply.

Celtic Dog Brooch (medium-sized stamp)
1/2p Green, 1p Blue, 2p Green, 2.5p brown, 3p Camel, 3.5p Orange, 4p Violet, 5p Lime Green, 6p grey, 7p Olive green, 8p Brown, 9p Grey green, 10p Purple, 12p Green and 15p Blue, all @ £0.05 each, or £0.65 for the 15.

Would you like to buy some stamps?

Ordering stamps:

To order stamps, just email me alisonlever @ yahoo.co.uk and let me know what you want. I'll answer as soon as possible. This may not be the same day, but you do get personal service, and I am happy to search for stamps on just about any theme. There are a lot more stamps in stock than is possible to show here, so it's worth asking about your particular interest.

Please allow £0.95 (95p) if you come from anywhere in Europe, and £1.50 if orders are to be sent elsewhere. The postage charge is the same however many stamps you buy. This means that it's cheaper to buy more than one stamp, because the cost of packaging and postage is less per stamp. This reflects the time spent ensuring that the stamps are packed so that they arrive to you safely - it takes about the same time for one stamp as for larger orders.

Your stamps will be sent as soon as I receive payment. You can return the stamps and obtain a refund if they are not what you expected. Paypal is preferred, though other forms of payment can be negotiated. Euros are welcome as well as pound sterling.
